History

The short history of our company:

1972 – Starting the manufacturing of spark plugs in Bakony Works, the predecessor of the company

1982 – Buying and applying the License from Smiths Industries Ltd. England (Simac) to produce KLG Spark Plugs

1988 – Starting the manufacturing of industrial ceramics: insulator tubes, grinding media and plates

1990 – Cooperation with General Motors to produce AC Delco spark plugs – 6-8 Million spark plugs produced per annum

1992 – Establishment of Bakony Spark Plug and Ceramic Manufacturing Ltd.

1995 – Starting the manufacturing of ceramic beads, setting up new pressing machines

2000 – New owner: Montan Ltd. changing the company’s name: Bakony Technical Ceramics Ltd.

2001 – Finishing the production of spark plugs, extension of the factory, expansion of production facilities of technical ceramics

2002 – Installation of a new kiln and machines, expansion of capacity

2003 – Developing of new products: wear resistant plates, rods, shafts, pistons, sealing rings, injection moulded parts, ballistic ceramics, special granulates

2004 – Setting-up pressing machines, and high pressure injection moulding machine, injection moulding machine, grinding and polishing machines

2005 – Establishing a joint venture with a German company Kalenborn to produce wear resistant plates (Bakony Wear Tech. Ltd.) Developing new products and technologies: components in medical equipments produced with high-pressure injection moulding, discs, production of safety-valves, development of ground ceramic plates

2006 – New developments: flat grinding machine and cylindric grinder, polishing technology, expansion of measuring equipments

2007 – Building of a new workshop, expansion of the producing capacity, setting up a new injection moulding machine

2008 – Expansion of the workshop, setting up a new spray dryer, expanding the base material production capacity, introducing SAP

2009 – Development of paper industry dewatering elements

2010 – Producing of ceramic blades for dewatering process of paper industry

2012 – Close cooperation with company GL&V and aquire of technology and machinery to produce „Superloc” dewatering blades for paper machines

2013 – Acquiring of ceramic production facility of Hidria and establishing of Ceramdisc Ltd., building new workshops and starting production of low pressure moulded ceramic parts.

2016 – New investments: new tunnel kiln, kiln hall and warehouse at BTC; new injection molding plant and office, internal cylinderical grinding and ceramic injection molding machine, road and storage area at Ceramdisc Ltd.; new production hall, warehouse and tube extruder press at BWT

2018 –For nearly two decades, Bakony Technical Ceramics LTD. and Ceramdisc LTD. have jointly enabled our partner’ competitive edge with the provision of high alumina products. Ceramdisc is now a part of BAKONY TECHNICAL CERAMICS company, marking the start of a new chapter as one company.Thanks to the merger, all formatting technologies are available, so we offer a personalized solution to individual customer needs.

2020 – Start of highlighted environmental projects for a sustainable future. Development of high-pressure injection molding area with respect to medicinal ceramic projects.
